Leadership Development Workshop
Assertive Communication Skills for Effective Management
In today’s workplace, everyone has to communicate with confidence and diplomacy. That’s not always easy. Whether we’re talking with colleagues, general staff, senior management or external customers, we try to convey our message with assertiveness.
In a challenging situation, with more senior people or people whose style is aggressive; there can be a tendency to be passive. Ideally, we want to communicate with respect for self and respect for others. That’s what assertiveness is all about and it is a learned skill.
By the end of this workshop you will:
- Differentiate assertive, aggressive and non-assertive behaviour
- Review the role of body language in communication
- Learn how to monitor non-verbal behaviour to ensure congruent messages
- Practice four assertive communication strategies to employ in challenging situations
